adhd and add is the same thing, add just means less obvious hyperactivity. its not a thing in my country anymore, it all gets diagnosed as adhd. the reason why many kids grow up to have “adult add” is because throughout their lives they learn how to cope with their symptoms somewhat and how to go about life in a way that works for them. so its not like the adhd disappears.
i dont think it has to be obvious enough to the point that everyone’s like “yo that kid probably has adhd!” but for no one to ever suspect something is up (whatever that would be) is strange.
the criteria to get diagnosed, where i live at least, is that symptoms have to have been present before the age of 7. so that means if i, as an adult tried to get diagnosed, we’d have to go through my childhood, talk to one parent about what u were like as a child etc. and they wont diagnose u if from what they find out you seemed completly normal as a child. that’s where i think a lot of adults twist their stories, that they overexaggerate when it comes to their childhood to convince themselves theyve been dealing with whatevers going on now since then, when really they were just normal children. a lot of children have a hard time sitting still, concentrating etc, if every normal person were to look back at their childhood tryna find mild examples of adhd symptoms everyone could do it
