tzov:

the reason that little “feminine” costumes look “silly” on men isn’t just because of toxic masculinity, homophobia, the usual suspects– while these phenomena certainly affect gnc men in general, let’s not kid ourselves. the reason that we laugh when a man wears boob-plate armor, lipstick and a miniskirt, is because it looks silly on women too. it’s a huge aspect of culturally constructed “femininity” for women to look childish, impractical, and oversexed. it helps with the dehumanization that churns the patriarchy. this isn’t “fear of the feminine” or whatever nonsense, and it’s insulting to imply that looking like a strung-up doll has anything to do with being a woman.
