as an adhd haver myself i honestly cant see how someone can go through high school without it being noticed. i was diagnosed as an adult but i’ve been struggling tremendously in school since sometime around 5th grade and it did not go unnoticed. i think a lot of ppl being diagnosed as adults are ppl who have something else thats “wrong” w them but their symptoms just happen to overlap w adhd and they end up getting misdiagnosed, aaand that some them are just “normal” ppl who happen to be a bit like ppl with adhd, without actually having adhd themselves, which is completelyyy possible, its not like adhd traits are completely non-human-like qualities. lets take forgetfulness, completely human!

yeah. i asked my token adhd friend for her stance on this and was told that adults being diagnosed with add is more or less common around college age but that adult adhd is rare and usually even adhd kids grow up to have adult add instead. and that kids with adhd, male or female, are usually obvious.

personally i didnt know add was still a diagnosis, i thought it was like aspergers is now.
